Can anyone in Chch recommend a window cleaner? I need my windows done in and out - Home James has a service but would be interested to know if anyone has experience with a local firm - taa!

Get up that ladder and do em yourself! :D :laugh :exit

You know, I did consider that for about a millisecond :laugh and then I counted the number of windows :exit

I've been quoted $70 - that's cheap enough for me to sit and watch with a G&T :D

What is it with these Kiwi houses and all the windows, we must have at least 60 panes of glass in our house, and some of them are very big and high up!

$70 is not bad, may get one myself..... although no G & T :no

:laugh I hear ya Sal, this place is like a greenhouse!! Lots of strange window locations too so I'd rather someone else take the risk of being up there on a ladder! ;)

My friend was a G&T addict and when she was preggers she'd have tonic with bitters and lots of fresh lemon juice and swore she could make it taste like a G&T :D

you could get one of those long handled hose/broom type things and do the windows and keep your feet on the floor. they sell them in bunnings.

$70 that seems a hell of a lot, just how many windows do you have in that house Moorf.
We have 12 windows in our 4Br house in the UK and pay £8 pm for the outsides. Is this one of the NZ prices I'm going to have to get used to.
Note I'll get used to the price rather than wash them myself!

20+ windows here  each with their own number of panes - some with over 10 panes!!

Our window cleaner in the UK was £12 but that was just for outsides but we had slightly less windows.... so it does cost rather more here I suppose, but then I've only had one quote and I suspect there are cheaper alternatives... watch this space.

I think if I get in and out done, plus sills wiped, tracks hoovered etc it's about $100 ish. I don't think that's bad at all for an annual spring clean of the windows! ;)

Sounds like a bargain to watch a window cleaner at work, whilst relaxing with a G&T.

Could'nt get a window cleaner at our last house for love nor money. Lots of big windows, all made of little leaded light panes from the 1900's, sharp bits would have taken your finger tops off.

On a good day when me dad came over...................................:clap we could see out again.

What is it with Dads and windows?? Mine used to do our old house as well!

Gosh, I just pressure washed the house (prior to painting) and the windows sparkle! If I had known yours needed washing, I could have flown over to help ;) .

Generally I hose off the (outside) windows, scrub them a bit with a soft-bristled push broom (cut to fit the bucket) dipped in vinegar solution, and hose them off again. Considering how quickly they get schmutzed up again, I'm not into detail work.

Mmmm, a G&T sounds mighty good.

Remind me... I drink the vinegar solution and wash windows with G&T *hic* ?? And you wonder why I get a man in to do them?!!

With that number of windows and a lack of double glazing no wander NZ house are so cold.
With that number of windows I would certainly have a cleaner and a G & T

I think with Dads it's a nesting thing for their offspring.

However, I'm not bothered what part of his DNA causes him to say 'where's your sponge and squeegee then' as long as my windys are clean. :D

Good old Dad. :clap :clap

:laugh You might want the bucket-sized G&T, but don't put it in the bucket. That might reduce the confusion.
