Well, we're booking flights today, for the 19th. Just a week on monday! Or, as I like to think about it, 2 weeks today we'll be there!
My company are setting us up in a hotle for 3 weeks and organising a hire car for the first 2 weeks, so all I need to worry about is booking the flights.
Bit worrying though, I am not a seasoned traveller and am a bit concerned about delays etc.
If any of our flights are delayed do we lose our tickets? Do we have to buy new ones or pay money to be rebooked etc? For instance when the 2 flights are with separate airlines.
I just haven't got a clue!

Hmmm there are probably clauses written in the teeny, teeny, print somewhere on the website, but I don't know, sorry.
Have you asked the ticket seller? Although I'm sure a seasoned traveller on here will know.
BUT I wanted to say how glad I am that it is all falling into place for you all. :clap

Great news .... been 'off air' for a few days due to our move - log on this morning and see that you're (almost) on your way.
As for the worry about the tickets, if you miss a connecting flight due to a previous flight being delayed you won't have to pay anything. The airline will book you onto the next available flight which 'should' be free of charge. In some cases, youmay even find yourself being put up in a hotel while you wait ....... but don't bank on it.
You'll be fine - no worries at all. Let me know where you're staying and I can give you a yell once you've settled - show you around the place etc. Hey - you can come and look at our new house !!!!
Good luck - keep us posted.

If all of your flights are on the same ticket then the carrier whose flight was delayed is not only responsible for their part of the journey but also for sorting out any onward flights. If however you have seperate tickets for different parts of the journey (which I doubt you will have) then each carrier is only responsible for the bit on their ticket. The upshot being if you haven't booked yet make sure that all legs of your journey are on the same ticket.
Hope that makes some sense, perhaps my 9 years working for an airline was some use after all!

A few years ago, my flight was delayed by more than 8 hours on Singapore Air and the airline arranged overnite accommodation for me. The airline gave me a letter stating the reason for the flight delay and I used it to file compensation from my travel insurance and I received a payment of $200 a few days later.

Thanks everyone, there are two separate tickets, one with Emirates (they give you a complimentary filght to a major airport with business class) that is they put the teeside to heathrow flight on the same ticket as the heathrow-dubai-auckland one. This does mean they are responsible for us which is great.
The last flight with NZ air to new plymouth is a separate ticket, so i have paid extra so that I can change it en route if I am delayed.
So that's my head straight.
Anyway we fly a week on monday and arrive on the wednesday afternoon, hopefully we can stay awake till about 7 pm then fall out for the count!
Have to start saying our goodbyes to evryone (who thought we'd never go through with it in reality!)!
Having a big bash on the saturday before we fly, so i should just be sober by the monday!....maybe!
cats were picked up by golden Arrow yesterday, they'll be flying on the 6th October.
Can't wait to get there now!
