Hi everyone, well I had my interview today with NZIS. After pacing the floor, drinking far too much coffee for my health, playing darts, on the pc, pacing the floor again, the telephone rang, 10 minutes into the stated period!
I was prepared. My little book with crib questions and answers, a spare sheet of paper to write the questions down as we went along, my watch to keep an eye on the time, I was ready.
What I wasn't ready for was the pace of questions from my CO and the concentration required to stop me racing away in some nervouse gibberish.
Although I didn't feel apprehensive coming up to the event, with half an hour to go I was sweating.
But he was lovely, the questions were basically for him to decide if we had made the right decisions and how we formed them. Basically, if you have done your homework and you have made enquiries about jobs, where to live, how you will get over the initial period after arrival, you will be o.k.
The few things I did manage to scribble down:
1 Why NZ?
2. Why do you think now is the right time for you to move to NZ?
3. What would you do if you faced difficulties getting a job in your preferred field of work?
.
.
.
.
How would I settle the family into NZ life?
How would I cope with the challenge of changing jobs/career and the move to NZ?
There were many more that are all a haze now. But the "ordeal" is not bad, as long as you have done your work and you are not trying to "wing it"!
They aren't trying to trip you up, just trying to see that you have done the right thing and are sure about what you are doing. They allow you to ask any questions you may have at the end as well.
So apologies, my intentions were for me to be a big help to everyone by documenting my experiences.
Oh, and before I forget, he also told me that it was highly unlikely that we would be declined :clap and to expect to hear within 2 weeks about PR or WTR!!! :raebanana :raebanana
That was one big weight off my mind. Now the hard work of sorting the house out and getting it sold...
