It's coming down to the wire, the house is on the market, virtually empty (we gave almost everything away) and we now have about 20 boxes to ship to NZ. But, we don't have an address in NZ yet. We should be flying out permanently in about a month (around Oct. 15) and will find an apartment once we get there. Any ideas on the cheapest way to ship boxes (there's nothing of vital urgency in them so we don't care if it takes awhile)? How do you ship if you don't have a ship to address - have them hold it at the port? How expensive is that?

Your input is greatly appreciated.

Regards,
Liz

you should be able to ship them as 'groupage' with a freight company. As long as you can give them a city that you are heading for they should be able to inform you via email what ship, voyage no, container no etc. Can't be more specific than that as have only shipped from the UK.

As far as I can understand from our shipping quotes, you can give them a firm address when your stuff is on the way. I would give them a city though before you set off.

They can store if you are not settled, I think is about $50-60 a week.

Hope this helps

Thanks. I had received one quote that said each box had to be labelled with the "ship to" address which kind of threw me for a loop. I try it this way.
