I have began to consider a long term business visa to gain PR. My points are only over 100 if I get a job offer, and I hate to chance it on trying to gain employment from salons I have never seen! Anyone not a long term skills shortage searching for a job should be able to relate to the frustration of trying to find a job when 1/2 way across the world. As they say in the USA it "sucks".

I am having trouble locating books on starting or aquiring a business in New Zealand. The ins and outs are so very different than ours it seems. Anyone with advice on books, or if they have, or know someone who has gotten a long term business visa to gain PR I would love to hear from you.

Currently treading water...

Janine to get a LTBV you will have needed to have owned and run a business the same previously. If you came over on the normal residency and just got a job to get the required no. of points you would only have to stay at that job for 3 months to fulfil the requirement s of the visa.

A good option for me having had my own business, but I still have to prove it is "a benefit to New Zealand" which could be hard considering it will be a salon....

I think that if you employ staff that constitutes 'benefit to NZ'. We are here on the LTBV.
