Wow i'm doing it.. my very first posting!! cool
Ok here's our little story.
Hubby & son (6)... that's son's age not hubby lol. 2 dogs
points 240
wanna leave UK asap.. but aim to be in NZ by July/Aug 06
Started my file in June.. now have a full leaver arch and now need another one!
I'm going around in circles, It took me till now, actually today to find out that we are on the long term skill list, as for future growth area.. well i'm still trying to find that one out! but from what i can gather YUP the whole of NZ is in that bit
So moving on..
from what i've been reading about the blessed medicals, they don't have to be done before the visa? surely you can't get one on the way over?? oh what a muddle i'm in!
I want to know how much it's gonna cost us!
I also have a bad back, (1 lower crushed verterbre) I am coming over on hubby's visa, does anyone know if NZIS will say no because of this? I see my consultant next week to find out if he will operate for definate as nothing else has worked. If he says he wont, it will be pain killers for a bloomin long time (I hope to God he says he will) can't handle this anymore!

Just out of curiosity has anyone read NUKIWI relocation report.. it cost's but i found it fantastic.. its my little bible of NZ.
Wish we were there now :exit
well chat with you if you post.. TTFN and good night X (p.s. sorry about my bad spelling's)

Hi bluenickie and welcome to the forum :)

Firstly - 240 points - that's fab, so no probs getting your EOI selected then! ;)

Secondly, you need to get your medical done for your ITA (Invitation to Apply) so no, you don't need it to get a Visa to travel here (not sure about work visas.. anyone know??). It's been a year since ours so not sure on UK medical costs but others on the forum can bring you up to speed on this as many have posted their costs on this forum.

Here's are links to a few relevant "medical cost" threads:

I can't see a problem like yours being something that would stop NZIS giving you residency or a work visa - I rather think they are more concerned with medical probs that will put a strain on the country's medical system (cancer etc?). I have a bulging disc in my lower back that plays up and they put it on the medical forms and I had no probs.

If you don't have your ITA before you leave the UK, you could consider having your medicals done here - it's cheaper than the UK too!

Hope that helps !

Thank you so much! your a star.
I'll check out the pages you left for me... do you think i should go brown not blonde tee hee!
I'll keep you posted.
Just one other thing... Is the grass greener???? I don't care if it aint were still coming!
Gonna get in touch with autojobs who has said that hubby's work will be well recieved in NZ, to get work before we leave hence 240!
I wished NZIS was a little clearer in there discriptions for medical drains. There isn't anything on there about partner's medical conditions I feel so much better knowing that the chances are they wont stop us :clap

Hi Bluenickie

Welcome to the forum too. :clap

I agree with Moorf, the medical conditions they mean is one that would need long term care/treatment/expensive drugs. Cancer, etc.

How far are you into your application? Do you have your EOI yet?

Anyway, ask away with the questions whenever you want.

Deborah

Hi Deborah (smiler)
Thank you for posting a reply to my question, believe me there will be many more! :yes
As for EOI, we are waiting for this job offer to come from Autojobs before we put our EOI in. Do you think that's a wise move?
I am so pleased that my back wont hinder our application... Phew! Thought we'd be stuck here forever!

I noticed that you were/are near to us, ESSEX. Where did you go for your medicals? We have found Southend Hospital does them, have no idea on their prices as yet!
Keep on chatting.
