Here is some info on monthly premiums that I requested from a broker. It provides a listing of the various big companies and some premium examples. This is about 4 months old, so you might want to check again with this guy. We are not over in NZ yet so we have not done anything as of yet. Hope this is helpful.

Thanks for your email. You asked for premiums with a $1000 and $2000 excess. I’d actually given premiums with the $1000 (or $1200 depending on the plan) excess, but I’ve put them again along with the $2000.



Base Plan (covering the surgical and non-surgical costs associated with hospitalization and the cost of tests and specialists that relate to hospitalization).

ING Life: $1000 excess $62.63 $2000 excess $49.05

Sovereign: $1200 excess $53.58 $2000 excess $49.14

Tower: $1000 excess $62.10 $2000 excess $49.70

AIA: $1000 excess $63.88 $2000 excess $55.40



Base Plan with extra cover for Specialists and Tests

ING Life: $1000 excess $69.03* $2000 excess $53.94*

Sovereign: $1200 excess $77.90 $2000 excess $82.87

Tower: $1000 excess $89.45 $2000 excess Not available if Extra Specialist and Test cover selected

AIA: $1000 excess $82.87* $2000 excess $74.22*



*With ING Life and AIA, there is an excess on claims made under the Additional Specialist and Test cover. In AIA’s case, the excess is $100 (regardless of the excess that you choose for your base plan). With ING the excess is the same as the one that you choose for the base plan (with a minimum of $250).
