Im just wanting to know a little bit more about this Partnership Policy. Im a NZ Citizen & hubby is a US National but not a US Citizen (long story... tell you later), Ive been told by one source that hubby just needs to apply for his PR and wait on it - which could take up to 18 months - if its just partnership, but another source has informed me that once he has done that, he can actually apply for a Work Permit through Partnership and once that Work Visa has been approved he can actually come over here, live and find work (without having had one beforehand) within at least 15 working days. Hold on? Does that make sense? ... im a bit excited at the mo...

Lets try this way:

Option 1: Apply for PR as normal way and wait up to 18 months for issuance

Option 2: Apply for PR as normal way and also apply for Work Permit thru Partnership (with no prior job required) and wait up to 15 working days for issuance of Work Permit.

Work Permit allows you to live in NZ for up to 2years, and find work (through Partnership, it will mean that I as his sponsor will have to support him until he does finds work) and when his PR is approved, get the Work Permit removed upon getting his PR.

It sounds like an awesome idea, but with immigration, im just wandering whether this is really correct. I know when I was applying for my US Green Card I wasnt allowed to even wait out the time over there. But this pretty much says I can get hubby to move over here on a Work Permit for up to 2 years without having to get a job, but the ability to find one while hes here and wait out his PR issuance ... Is that right?
