Just wanted to pass on a discovery that saved us some $$.
It turns out that United Airlines has a partnership agreement with Air New Zealand. I was able to book a one-way flight from LAX to Auckland for $700 USD (that includes taxes and all the other fees) through United but I'll actually be flying on an ANZ plane. The catch is to call United and talk to a customer service rep because its not listed on the web site or in any specials listed (at least that we could find). Pretty amazing since its considered peak season right now (my flight is in early Oct.).
