This is going to sound really silly, but I'd rather ask you lot than the shippers!
When they come round to give you a quote do they come 'plain clothes' as it were e.g unmarked car etc or are they in vehicles covered with their details? We really don't want to alert anybody to the fact that we're looking at moving.
Any info would be much appreciated.

Dougal,
Good question, we've only had the one quote so far, from Atlantic. The guy came in a normal vehicle.
Anyone else...?

We had about 5 different shippers around, and yes they are un-marked. Would pass as an insurance man or salesman. They do have either lap top or small briefcase, so general notes are made.
Loved all the curtain twitchers when we had them around.
Cant speak for all the shippers though.
Wouldnt imagine you will be the first person to have asked that question either. Ask them, I would.:nice1

Ditto. Four quotes and all turned up in their rep cars. Although one was in a flash Merc so there's obviously money in it.

Thanks for that everyone. We have a VERY active Neighbourhood Watch here and nothing and I mean nothing gets past some members! They'll probably know we're going before we do.
Anyway I feel I can confidently invite these people round without their identity getting out or lie really well if questioned about who they were. The Merc would raise some eyebrows tho' as all our mates have rubbish cars!

Hi
We've just had ten reps round ( not all at once, although it was a bit close sometimes) and they all came in civvies and unmarked cars.
Yep all fairly new cars, mostly estates too. I don't think you'll have any worries from the twitchers but let us know what the rumour mongers say. :D

Hi
Thanks for the info re Anglo-Pacific. Will probably not ask them. Although have contacted a couple now and they dn't really seem to want to know. Pickfords said their computer was down and PSS said they'd get back to me.
Robothamma I see you're using PSS - did you have trouble getting them to speak to you in the beginning?
Is email better than phone for contacting them?

Dougal,
No we had no probs getting to speak to them at the beginning, there was one occasion though when I asked for another quote to another port, and she asked if she could call me the following day with the quote, I said fine no probs - but she didn't call Hmmmm:roll anyway the next day after that I received a quote in the post.
Hope this helps
Michelle
