I thought it may be interesting to have a poll to show where forum members' political sympathies lie in general.
Just a simple red or blue...no sitting on the fence....and see if that tallies with the election results so far.

It may not give a very accurate picture...I'm expecting it to be split pretty equally as per the real thing...but I'm just interested in the immigrant POV on NZ politics.

Those colors are opposite here in the US. Red states supported Bush in the election, blue states did not. People still talk about it that way- for example, I live in a red city in a blue state.

Surely it's not as straight forward as a simple red or blue vote. I dared to admit that (as yet) I have no particular leaning one way or another (due to lack of 'experience' for the want of a better word). I wonder - can we have a purple category - half red half blue for those of us who are yet to decide. Surely it's us 'undecided' mob who have the ability to swing things one way or another ......... never has been any point in preaching to the converted.

By the way Dave - have you learnt how to sing 'we'll keep the red flag flying' in Maori yet?

Well, even if you occupy some sort of middle ground ( and I do too), I think it's safe to say you'll probably be still biased to one side or the other.

I know it's not exactly MORI but...

Not as yet, no. I know it may seem like I'm on some rampant Socialist crusade at the moment - and I blame Brash for bringing out the worst in me - but I've not got that far yet. :cheers

I think most kiwis on the "right" would qualify as hopeless lefties in some places, like in the states for example.
Me, I reckon I am a pretty liberal sort of person, but I suspect I would still be on the Blue side of this equation.
