Hello All,
I have recieved my application pack, and to obtain a Police Certificate its says I need to make my enquiry through my local Police Station.............but I have been living in Hong Kong for the last 11 years.......so don't have one.

Can i apply direct to the National Identification Service?...........has anyone else had a similar problem...............?

Thanks.

You will need to get one from UK from the area you lived in, and you will also need one from Hong Kong police too.

I think thats it anyhow, sure someone will correct me if I am wrong;)

Our situation is not the same, but it will give you some idea............

I have previously lived in Singapore, UK and Holland and I have to submit Police certificate from Singapore and UK. It might seem difficult when I have to do these from NZ.

For UK, I download the form from the UK Police website. I have previously lived in Cambridge, so I sent the completed form to the police station in Cambridgeshire by post. A month later, I received the UK Police Certificate.

For Singapore, I contacted the Singapore embassy in Wellington for the form. After completing the form and fingers-printed by Auckland police, I sent it to Singapore by post. A few weeks later, I received the Singapore Police Certificate.

My hubby and I do not need to get Police certificate from Holland because it is one of the few countries that NZIS will deal directly with.

:cheers

Have the requirements changed? I thought it was places you have lived for only the last 10 years. If you've been in HK for 11 years I thought that covered it and you would only have to worry about HK police checks.

Maybe the rules have been changed since we did our ITA.

On page 2 of "How to obtain a Police Certificate", it states that you need a certificate from any countries you have lived in for periods of twelve months or morein the last ten years, and also your country of citizenship.
