A nice trip out for a half day soak is Waiwera Pools.
About half an hour drive North of Auckland on Highway 1, the Pools consist of a selection of pools from tepid to hot, a covered pool that shows movies. A whole load of slides and tubes for big (and little kids), cafes and snack bars.
You can even book your own areas for parties and set up a bbq, nice. There is also a 'spa' type facility at extra cost - not sampled yet.
It's a great place to splash about, have fun and relax and BIG TIP, if you stop at the BP services on the motorway (for a lasagne square) check out the i-site as there is a stack of leaflets offering 2-for-1 entrance to the pools.
