Hello Again:
Just thougt I would ask if it is legal for radar detectors in New Zealand. Didn't know if they used radar or not....
Thanks;

Yes it is. They mostly use hand held guns now that very few if any detectors pick up.

Mine picks up hand-held radar no problem, and from quite a long way away.. they use the very same here in California, those sneaky CHPs!!
It will also pick up laser, but by the time it does, it's just in time to tell you you've been sprung. Not much use there!!
Thanks for the information, and welcome to the forum!!
All the best, Rae

Radar detectors would be good on the open roads, where they use those lovely speed cameras so much. Can't say about the sneaky hand held jobs in towns etc. But, on the longer drives 'twixt towns, then sure, use your radar detectors, could save you a bundle, especially if you have to old leadfoot syndrome.
cheers, Stu.

This cracks me up, just last night I was saying to my self," I'd better post that question about radar detectors tomorrow"
60mph speed limit in N.Z?
The big rigs will ride your a** locally for driving under 70mph in some areas.
I was doing 80mph this morning near the slow lane, and a Cop drove by looked over at me, and gave me a look like that said "nice day today doesn't it." :cool

Do you mean laser guns or do they still mainly use radar?
Whilst we are on the subject, do you know what the Polices attitude would be to Laser Jammers? I have one fitted to both my cars and it effectively cloaks the front of the car and makes it almost impossible to get a speed reading off it. :hopeso

Well you all should buy the same model as I have.....It's from Rocky Mountain Radar...http://rockymountainradar.com/ It's a radar/Laser/Jammer combination....It works well on handhelds or any radar/laser because it makes you invisible...Can't remember what I paid for mine, but I think it was about $219.00 on E-Bay.
Thanks again and happy speeding........ :booby

I do hope you are kidding! :eek

"Like the Rocky Mountain Radar C212, this model promises to jam all radar and lasers. And like its stable mate, it does neither. No, it's not a case where perhaps we got a couple of bad units. And it's not a case where erstwhile engineers, after toiling endlessly in the lab, have unwittingly produced a product that somehow failed to perform. (To see what a real laser jammer looks like, go to "Tested: Six Laser Jammers".) Barring a major rewrite of some of the basic laws of physics, there's no way these devices will ever jam radar or lasers. Priced at $19 we might consider buying one if it were the only detector available; as a $319 detector/jammer it's an industry joke."
I have had my jammer tested with two different types of laser gun so I know it works but the RMR's are famous - for the wrong reasons.
