Anyone done it? I saw it on the Amazing Race and it looks like a trip. They are located in Rotorua.

If anyone is up for it, I'm going to give it a go in late January, when I make it to those parts.

I don't think my stomach would be up to it:eek: !! Strapped into a giant beach ball careering out of control down a hill - not my idea of fun. But whatever tickles your fancy. If you do it - I want photographic evidence.Debs

OK, so it sounds like I'll be the guinea pig (or hamster as the case may be). I'm leaning towards the sloshing-around-in-water option. Photos will be taken, believe me!

Enjoy..... the water one does look about the safest!

Just noticed they have a "you can love in it" option, hmm wonder if they fit curtains for that one!!! :laugh

Been there, done that (and Yes - I do have a t-shirt!) :laugh

Zorbing is absolutely amazing - I really cant recommend it enough. Mind you - im the sort of person who spend most of a rollercoaster ride laughing hysterically and wanting it to go faster!

You have 3 main options when Zorbing.

First - the strapped in version. You literally have your feet and arms strapped inside the ball, and they roll you straight down the hill! Its actually the "worst" way to go if you are not too sure about this - as you roll head first (I counted 15 turns by the time I got to the bottom).

Then theres "Aqua zorbing" on your own. Chuck yorself in the ball, get a bucket of water thrown in after you and then you have to stand up and start "running" down the hill. Theres actually a prize if you can stay upright all the way down - you wont!) Its surprisingly gentle (apart from the very undignified way you have to get in the ball), because in less than a second, you are going to slip to the bottom of the ball, and "slide" down the hill. The ball sort of "rolls" around you.

You also have the choice of 2 tracks - straight down the hill - or along a curved track (heartily recommended for those who are a bit like me and actually love this stuff).

Your third option is to go down with someone else! Very Cozy!. You have to do this wet, and you have to go straight down the hill - not on the curved course. Its hysterically funny as you fall over each other and become a mass of arms and legs flailing about all over the place. I beleive you can get upto 3 people in a zorb.

one word of advise - there are only 3 "Strapped" zorbs, so you end up waiting around a long time if you want to do the dry run, whereas if you want to go wet'n'wild - theres less hanging about!

BTW - you can now Zorb in Bath of all places - but that just doesnt seem right somehow.

I watched while my friend did it, and I have the video. It looked like fun, and I love the rollercoasters too- ever heard of the Dragster at Cedar Point?? He loved it, and he too said it was gentle, but you couldn't tell where you were during the ride. The best part is (he did the aqua curvy track option) at the end when they turn the thing around to find the opening, open the hatch, and roll you out. My friend is a big guy, and when he came out of that little hole it looked like the Zorb was giving birth! HAHAHA. We should have a viewing of the video when I arrive, it is SO FUNNY....

Havent much experience of US coasters - apart from Universal Studios, and Magic Mountain (some good ones there) - the best (imho) is Blackpools Big One! Old, clunky and truly gutwrenching on the drop!

Getting out of a Zorb - helluva lot easier than getting in one!!!!

My husband and 2 sons did the water variety when we were over in NZ this summer. The boys were too young to do the other variety. They loved it and wanted to go straight back to the top and do it again.

Unfortunately I missed out. Someone had to hold the camera!!(Shame) :laugh
