Sorry to trouble you but i've got another question and having scoured NZIS web and being totally distracted on this site :o (it's such a good read, but my eyes are now going googly :roll )
Basically I need to find out how long you get to send back your completed Invitation to apply. Also when you send back your IVA have you got to have police check and medical certs too? and once the visa is issued how long do you get before you have to get out there?
As for ponts, we just lost 90 cos we can't secure job that far in advance, that said they guy still wants to help closer to the time and/or once we get there. So do we now go for work to residency or what? This process is driving me barmy, NZIS is surposed to be the easiest to get into! not so bloomin likely.
I'd appreciate your feedback.

What stage are you at now. Have you put in your Expression and Interest and been selected Decision Successful?
If so I think you have 3/4 months (it should say in the letter) to put in your ITA (invitation to apply), and you have to have your Police certificates and medicals done to go with it, along with proof of your qualifications and work experience.
Work for Residency might be easier if you don't have the points, but I don't know much about that as didn't do that route.
Good luck

Wow what a quick reply! thank you.
we intend to submit our EOI next month either way (as in job or no job) our points were if we had work 240! were now down to 150 with no work... and amazing 90 points lost! pheweee. I think that i had better slow down with the ITA (not IVA lol) and get my EOI in first, then i can cross that bridge when necessary eh! I'm running before i can walk. I think one step at a time may have to become my motto? thanks again Jo.

Hi Nickie, Congratulations on having 150 points without a job offer you should have no trouble with the EOI as the point are currently at 100. No one knows how long they will stay that low but you have quite a big clearance. It is a case of one step (and then an agonizing wait) at a time. EOI in, selected at the fortnightly draw as long as you have the points. You get a letter when your ITA finally arrives that tells you 4months to get it all back to them. Thats your police checks, medicals, work evidence and all other bits they ask for. Be carefull with your timings as police checks are only valid for 6 mths from the date stamped and medicals, (or at least the old medical) is only valid 3 mths. That is to say you have to submit these documents to NZIS with your ITA with in that time.
Submit your EOI, start gathering up your papers and remember to breath...
This emigrating lack is one hell of a ride.
Best of luck with it all. Debbie

Ditto, good luck nickie. All the timings are correct above. But remember that once you get pr granted, you can stretch out your time by not paying the migrant levy immediately, giving you up to 6 months. Once the visa is in th e passports you have 12 months to set foot on kiwi soil.
Good luck

Time flys, start filling it in NOW. We submitted our at about 8pm the night before the draw and were selected the next day when we did ours couldn't believe it and didn't have as many points as you.
Good luck.
