Hi everyone

I have been spending a lot of time reading hundred of posts in the last week. The amount of new information I have picked up has been great.

My husband and I would like to move to NZ some time later next year. We have 2 boys and we are all excited about the new life waiting for us. We spent 3 weeks travelling in a campervan in August and have decided to settle in Waipukurau (Hawkes Bay) as it had every thing we were looking for as a family. We are buying some land over there at the moment and this should complete some time in March.

I teach ICT and hope to find a permanent job, but I will be happy to do supply at first. My husband is a firefighter in the UK, but has spent the last 3 years training to be a carpenter. We were told when we were over there that he shouldn’t have any trouble getting work. Fingers crossed. (and everything else for that matter!)

Our EOI was selected from the pool Wednesday. How long on average does it take to get the invitation to apply? Or is this like asking, “How long is a piece of string”!! :D

Welcome Willsken!! :)

Depending on where your case is being looked at it could take anywhere up to 4 - 6 months to receive your ITA.

Have you had a look at the timings chart? This might give you more of an idea. ;) http://www.emigratenz.org/immigration-application-timings.html

All the best

That was very helpful thank you. (And thank you also for the banana!!)

We were hoping to go when I finish the school year in 2006, so theres hope for that.

I couldn’t believe that I submitted my EOF over the Internet on Tuesday this week and it had been pulled from the pool by Wednesday morning! I almost fell off my chair.

Hi there, I think our EOI was selected in Oct 2004, and we were invited to apply on 2nd Nov. We then had 4 months to submit the full application, which we did at the start of March 2005. I was interviewed at the end of March, and the residency was approved on April 1st - fortunately the lady from immigration phoned in afternoon, so I knew it was for real ;) We then had until Oct 1st to pay the migrant levy and send in our passports for the visas. So hopefully things will happen pretty quickly for you.

We're also having to wait until July time to emigrate, due to the school year - the missus is a teacher.

All the best.

Hi

It took us about 4 weeks from EOI being selected to receiving ITA. Don't know what the current timing is because it seems to change all the time.

Good luck and welcome to the forum!

Hey Willsken

welcome to the forum. We nearly moved to Waipak.. but ended up chosing Dannevirke because of jobs offers. So we won't be too far away.

My husband is there already and we move on 8th Jan.

good luck with your ITA when it comes through as for timings I don't think there is a set time everyones seem different so the best advice I can give is start getting everything ready for when it does come i.e. police checks, meds, certified copies of things you need like birth certs, exam result etc.

That will give you a head start for when it does come.

Best of luck

Jo

Hi Willksen and welcome,
We live near`Cardiff too (Radyr) and have submitted out ITA. Awaiting progress now. (Everyone always said the waiting was the worst part and I couldn't fathom how, but now I know!) We have four children and are heading to Auckland or Bay of Plenty, probably Auckland as there are more jobs there.
Please PM me if you'd like more of a chat,
Good luck,
Gil

This is very good advice,

and you need "Full" Birth certificates so if you don't have one, the easiest way to get a certified copy is from here[/I] http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/
we ordered 2 copies of robs birth certificate (extra one just in case) and one marriage cert (for me to send to NZQA)
Standard Service

Full certificate of birth, marriage, death or adoption
£11.50 (£7 for extra one ordered) if you order online, have a GRO ref its even cheaper)
They took 2 days to arrive and it was cheaper than getting a lawyer etc to certify a copy!

The Police report took a week for me and my son but robs didn't arrive :( panic - I rang the number on the confirmation letter that arrives first and hey presto the report was on the doorstep 2 days later (must have got stuck on someones desk!) & theres me thinking he'd got a shady past (kiddin :laugh )

Meds - thats the expensive bit and NZQA if you need it - be warned theres hidden costs as they have to contact yr old Unis etc, and it costs from £10 to £30 depending for them to say you went there!

But once again, good luck and welcome
