I've read a lot about the cost of living, salaries, taxes, etc., but I would like to know if there are any other deductions from source (other than the 39% tax) that I can expect off a paycheque. Here in Canada we have pension, medical, employment insurance, tax (federal and provincial) and for some people, union dues. Gross and net salaries are worlds apart. :(

My OH and I have only tax deducted from our pay checks every month and that it.
My company provide Income Protection Insurance to every employee and a dollar is deducted from my pay check once a year.
If I participate in my company's superannuation scheme or social club or medical/hospitalisation insurance, then it will be deducted from my pay check monthly.
:cheers
