Hi all
I had an accident at the weekend ( fell off a roof ) broke my left forearm in two places. :wah i have had plates put in my arm and is now in pot. I was due to go for my medical but not sure now if it's a waste of time. Does anyone know if a broken arm will mean i will fail the medical ? other than that i am fit and well and have no medical conditions.

Hi Yorkie

I'm really sorry about your arm,.... you fell off a roof? :eek
I can't see having a broken arm (even with plates) could affect your medical, you could always try calling NZ house on the cheap number, they should be able to put your mind at rest :hopeso :hopeso

I shouldn't think that a broken arm would matter at all. they are only really concerned about long term stuff and by the time you get to go to NZ that will be a distant memory.

Yorkie.

My boys and I had our medicals this week. As far as I can see, a broken arm won't give any major cause for concern. I had a chest x-ray, blood pressure taken, height measured and I was weighed. Gave a blood sample, a wee sample, had to bend down to touch my toes. Doc listened to my heart and lungs (at least I think that's what he was doing) and then basically went through a few pages of questions along the lines of have you any history of .............

It may be an idea just to check first, seeing as these medicals have to be paid for privately, if you turn up and they can't test you, you may end up having to foot the bill anyway - just a thought.

Hope your arm gets better soon - fell of a roof eh?

Hi Yorkie...Ouch :wah ,

Not a problem as far as the medicals are concerned!

BTW you're not the guy who asked his wife tie a rope to something solid while on the roof are you? Apparently this blokes wife tied a safety rope to the tow bar of the 4X4, then forgot her hubby was on the roof. At 3:00pm she jumped into the car to pick the kids up from school, pulling said hubby off roof, down other side, landed in bed of roses, dragged through garden gate. Wifey didn't notice...she'd fortunatly pulled up to natter to a neighbour! Thank God for gossip! Anyway all he sufferd was a broken arm and a fear of rose bushes...straight up!!!

Oh dear Karl! I can't help feeling sorry for the guy and/or Yorkie, but it did bring a smile to my face. It sounds like the kind of thing you couldn't make up!
