Hi
Can anyone on the forum offer some help on this -
My fiance went for the X-ray of his medical exam today and it has come up with signs of positive t.b :(
Needless to say we are completely freaked out by this!
Has anyone had a similar experience?
What are his chances of residency now (I am kiwi, he's Dutch)
Any info would be greatly appreciated

oh pants Lily :( ,
Even though this might be a large hurdle to jump, at least your fella can now be sorted before he comes to any real harm.( on his part)
I guess once he is clear for a period of time ,he will be given the ok.
All the very best :hopeso

There you go our wonderful NHS for you  Can equate to this, friend of mine was told he had an exploded disc, was off work for 10 months :wah only to be told he had a trapped siatic nerve which could have been treated there and then with an injection. :laugh
The ironic thing is he was employed in the NHS too with the Ambulance Service. So it definately pays to double check and in some cases triple that check.
Glad to hear your worries are now over, :cheers hey but now they begin again with your attempts for residency.
Good luck with it. :nice1

Phew !!! At least you know your heart is OK !! A few hours panic - think of all those nervous calories you would have burnt off too.

I had a scare with my medical too. A week after I had it done I came home one evening to find a message on my answer phone. It was the Dr's secretary. She left a very broken message, asking me to call them asap as they needed to speak to me urgently regarding my recent medical examination. Of course it was after hours so I had to wait until the following morning.

I had an awful night - didn't sleep a wink, was mentally putting all my 'affairs in order', wondering how the kids would cope without me, hoping hubby would cope with the boys .... you know - the usual doom and gloom stuff that seems so much worse in the wee hours. I was in a complete state.

Next morning I called the clinic. Got through to the secretary. She said "oh yes, I'm pleased you've called, we need to have a word with you" - by this time I was a jibbering wreck, cold sweats, shakes and blubbering like a baby.

"Hold on a moment" she said "I need to get the report out" ...... more time passed as she fumbled with the paperwork, covering the mouthpiece so I couldn't hear what she was saying. She then came back on the line and said "yes - here it is. I'm sorry to have to tell you but ...................
.................... you have forgotten to sign your sons medical forms and they can't be released until you do" !!!!!!!!!!!

Need I say any more?

Hi all,
I know that "active" TB is a no-no in NZ. But would you know if having Hepatitis B (chronic) is acceptable? Is this disease considered as "infectious or communicable"? We intend to take my mother-in-law with us later on but she is positive with HB.
Thanks

Well I have to admit Annie - I did feel an overwhelming temptation to throttle her.
