I need some advise on travelers cheques - I was planning on purchasing some for my trip over through American Express. Unfortunately, they don't sell them in NZ dollars. Any thoughts on a currancy that is well-recognized and easy to exchange? Euros, Australian dollars? British pounds?

hi,
I'd get them in American dollars, they're "well recognized".

I like to use travellers cheques and I use American express cheques, a little expensive but very secure.

I’ve always bought them in GBP, and exchanged them for the currency I need when I get wherever.
I see you’re in the USA, so I’d get them in your currency. I’m sure you will be able to change cheques in American dollars almost anywhere in the world.

You can then cash in leftover cheques easily when you get back.

I would skip the checks myself and just use your ATM card. No shortage of them here. As you go through the Auckland airport you will pass an ATM before you even reach customs. You also get a better rate through an ATM than with travelers checks.
