Besides the obvious problems with driving a left-hand drive vehicle in NZ, has anyone, or does anyone know someone who brought a vehicle from the US to NZ? Is it even legal?

I ask because, I am sure we will lose about $5K selling it here, as we just bought it earlier this year new.

Thoughts, comments? Thanks!

If you have owned it under a year at the time of import you will get taxed on it as an import, thats one of the reasons that put us off bringing mine.

I have a feeling too I saw that you cant have left hand drive vehicles over here, but I may be wrong, or they may be restricted.

You can bring a LHD vehicle, (see http://www.ltsa.govt.nz/factsheets/12.html for more info), but think about the cost of parts (if it is not Japanese in origin) and the "excitement" of driving an auto/truck designed for US roads on the narrow roads in NZ while looking at the shoulder
I have thought of taking our Toyota 4-Runner with us (9 years old and will probably run perfectly for another 10!) but I am apprehensive about how driving it would be...

After reviewing the links provided and discussing it with the OH, we'll just take the hit selling them. Oh, well!

Thanks, all.
