How many of you out there have made the move alone?

My son has come out to NZ on his own.

How difficult was it to make friends.

We are in Hamilton.

Hi Susan,

I hope to be able to give you the answer to this in about a years time. I'll also be emigrating by myself. I think that it is pretty much up to the individual how you settle in and create a new circle of friends. I intend to sign up with several clubs, such as a tramping club, yoga lessons, etc. to meet as many new people as I can.
I've also decided to try to live in or near a bigger city (hopefully Wellington) to give me better opportunities to meet new friends and to keep myself occupied even when I am alone.

You say your son already came to NZ. Did he have a hard time settling in?

I'd also love to hear more experiences from other single emigrants who went before.
