Hi not sure if any one will know, but will ask anyway. If your job description is on the shortlist catergory for residency, do the same rules apply if you apply for a working visa instead of residency?

We have tried the residency and seem to be coming up against a brick wal. John has a job offer in Palmerston, and has an NVQ in woodmachinig, which is not good enough apparently as he only gets level 3 for this and you need level 4 to get points for it. If he had done it 2 years earlier it would have just been City and Guilds and that would have given him the level 4 but alas we only get level 3 for it, so we think we are going to be back to 95 points again which is not enough. So we are thinking of going for the working visa to get out and reapply when we are settled out in nz. But not sure if he will need the level 4 for qualifications as well for a working visa.

If any body can help it would be appreciated as trying to get info from immigration is like pulling teeth!!

thanks Helen and John

Hi there
My OH , Paul who incidently flies out tomorrow  got a general work visa as easy as pie based on a job offer from an employer who was not accredited but could prove via an employment agency that there was no one in NZ who could do the job .Paul has no quals for the job just experience here in the UK.
Funnily enough Paul did have a previous job offer which required him to have a Level 4 NZQA assessment .Pauls army quals only came back as Level 3. However this new job pays $22,000 more than the original so we are just a tiny bit glad that his NZQA was not enough!.
Once we had the paperwork together NZ House only took 2 working days to process the visa!
Good luck ,pls ask if you have any other questions, let us know how you get on
