Morning all
Just passing some time before heading into Earls Court for my first NZ job interview in 11 years! Yikes  . It's with two of Auckland's Area Health Boards (including the one I really want to work for) so I'm just wee bit nervous. It would be nice to have a job to just walk into seeing as it looks like we won't be arriving until November/December and I think Mark will hard pressed to get an IT job at that time of year, and someone needs to support the family.
So fingers crossed and positive vibes please!

Hi All
Thanks for the messages. Had a good day I think:confused: . I spent 1.5 hours with the Recruitment Manager for Middlemore Hospital and the Head of Midwifery for Middlemore Hospital. So that means one of two things a. I talk alot (well, thats a given) and/or b. it went ok and they liked me??? I'll find out in a week or so apparantly, they need to chase up my referees then someone back in NZ makes the final decision.
But don't uncross those fingers too soon, I've got another interview tomorrow with Auckland District Health Board - not so worried about this one cos I'm not so sure I want to work there, but am keeping my options open.
So, as they say, watch this space.

Oooh, forgot you were midwifery... I am at antenatal with a midwife from middlemore (I know what you are thinking, why does she need antenatal? she is making her hubby sit through it so he understands as well, from another point of view apart from hers).
But I get the impression from the Midwife taking the class that middlemore practices are a bit above that of National Womens, dunno if its cos majority of the high risk go to National womens or not, but she seems to think very highly of Middlemore. Last night she said they were excellent whereas Nat Woms were just very good...
Glad the interview seemed to go well, you may well be working down the road soon!
But you wont get to see my wee one, if you are here by then, as I am off to National Womens.......

I would really hope not to see your little one anyway Sal, I'm not a midwife - I'm a nurse in NICU! I love it when we don't see people's babies!! National Women's is supposed to be good - the only thing I'd be concerned about is parking (apparantly it's a nightmare!). Speaking of National Womens - my next interview is today with Auckland Hospital - so I may be working there after all! Will let you know how I get on today.

parking... It is a nightmare, no street parking except maybe at night, and the big car park costs a fortune,a days parking, (7-8 hrs) is $17, hope I am not in labour long, or we will have one heck of a parking bill :D . dunno if there would be a lesser rate for staff?
Good luck anyway,

I don't know. I'll ask at my interview today!!
Wishing you a speedy labour and cheap parking!! :laugh (are you drinking raspberry leaf tea - or taking the capsules - supposed to tone the uterus for an easier labour!!)

A couple of weeks off the tea yet, they reckon 35 weeks onwards...
we did not see the nicu when we did out tour, as they dont show it to the expectant mums, but its away up on the top floor so you get a great view of the city every day.
