Hello and welcome to the forum.

Its a really friendly place so ask away any type of questions. Some one on here will either be going through the same thing or have done it and will happily pass on advice. :)

Good luck with your house sell

Thanks Miffy & Smiler ,

We still dont know where to go yet ,at the moment I've applied for a few jobs, but had no replies of yet :no .
We are waiting for a job offer to come in before we start looking at certain areas, although I like the look of the bay of plenty :yes .
If I do not get a job offer,is it a good idea to fly to Auckland & hope for the best?
Thanks Neil

Hi there. Shrewsbury - nice place. We've been here just over 3 months - we moved from Wheaton Aston - just on the Staffordshire Shropshire border (about 6 miles from Telford) - do you know it?

Just as a wee hint here - seeing as you're in striking distance (an hour or so) why not go along to the next NW meeting. I'm not certain but I think the next one is being held on 29th Oct (but there is a thread giving all the details). They're a great opportunity to meet up with other families going through the exact same process as yourselves (albeit in varying stages). It's very helpful (and even comforting) to know that you're not going it alone - and great to be able to talk to people about your plans without them glazing over and changing the subject.

We attended loads of the NW meetins before we left and have forged some really good friendships. Friendships which are continuing 'this side'.

And by the way - welcome to the forum !!

The Nw meets are 'north west' meets, but the area we all come from is quite vast!

We have been to the last 3 meetings, two at tatton park in the summer and the last one in Wigan. They really are good. There is one on the 29th, think the thread is in the main 'emigrate' section. Well worth the trip though, really nice people and good to talk to others in the same boat, (and great for the kids to as well!)

thread title and link (hopefully!)

Not being dumb at all. The NW meet. Well it's when a whole bunch of forum members who live around the Manchester-ish area (or surrounds) all get together for the afternoon.

In the winter months we use to meet at the Salt Cellar, just of jct 18 of the M6. The summer months found is playing rounders in Tatton Park. I think the next one is being held at a place called Mascrat Manor but if you go onto the actual thread (in the first section of the forum) you will see the info.

I'd strongly advise you to go.

Working for Severn Trent eh - do you Know Dyl Griffiths?

Hi Neil & Emma

Welcome to the forum. Can totally symaphise with you about your house. We've been on for 3 months now. Had a lot of interest in September (everyone said it was great but too expensive). We reduced the price at the start of October and not a sniff of interest since - we're really starting to panic now. We've been badgering the estate agent every week, but another weekend, and no interest! Hope you get yours sorted soon anyway. Do you have to sell your house before you can make the move?

We've only been to one of the NW meets (just had a baby so not much time), but it was really good fun and great to talk to other people in the same position. We can't make the one next week cos it's OH's 40th (!), but hope to be able to make the next one, so we'll maybe see you some time!
