Being as we are going to NZ on a bit of an extended holiday (officially anyway), I am looking into the cost of long term travell insurance. Has anyone got any suggestions, as most I have seen so far have been pretty short term or multi trip.
This is an exception; http://www.go-walkabout.com/index.htm
They will do one way (emigration) cover.

Depends on what you mean as long term.
We are travelling for a year have found the gap year sites and backpackers insurance ones the most use.
these are the ones I have looked at most. price varies depending on whether you need cover for working and if your planning on taking part in 'risky' activities! as usual pay heavily for something your unlikely to use hopefully!!
:roll
www.gapyearforgrownups.co.uk will cover you for up to 12months over the age of 31
and their patner www.workandtravelcompany.co.uk will do 18months up to the age of 35
www.coverworks.com i think will do up to two years
