Is there any one out there from the US that has moved to New Zealand and had a Roth IRA back in the states? I am trying to look ahead and see what the effect moving would have on this investment. Right now there is not a very large amount of $$$ invested in it and I am looking for the pro and cons of cashing it out before we leave or continuing to invest in it while living in New Zealand permanently. I'm afraid I don't have any answers for you, but I've been contemplating the same question. I have a mix of Roth, 401(k), and 403(b) accounts to deal with. We are hoping to make the move May/June 2006, so I am curious whether I can do anything this tax year to make the process as painless as possible. I would also appreciate any experiences and resources (anyone know of an accountant with experience in NZ moves?) you can offer.
