This afternoon we went out for a while and 5 mins from home went to cafe for tea.
Sitting there, looking at the view, remembering that we would have to drive for at least 1 hour to get to a bit of crowded seaside (not necessarily sand), try to park and pay for the privilege, be with at least 20,000+ day visitors, fight our way back home again, we remembered some of our reasons for coming here.
As some of you may know I've been feeling very low this week but this did really lift me up. This spectacular scenery on our doorstep, the change in lifestyle we are experiencing, the sunshine breaking through the mist and it being hot.
Well what I was trying to say was, for those of us who are not yet here, keep the goal in mind, remember why you are doing this during those long EOI, ITA, house for sale, waiting times.
And because I can now bore you all with my picture uploading skills, this was the view. Brighton it is not!
PS you are welcome to remind me of the above next time I'm down in the dumps.

Deborah, fab pics mate. Keep 'em coming. Nothing like a bit of the fabulous great outdoors to help pick up the spirits. I miss Piha Beach in Auckland - that's where I always went to blow out the cobwebs when feeling a bit low! Can't wait to get back.

Deborah,
THANKYOU
It's been one of those self doubting sessions and you have helped greatly.
I had been worried that all of this was because I had a sad and empty life and now my children are getting more independant minded I was using NZ to fill my time. Thoughts of "what will I do when I no longer have to spend every evening on the net or reading up on NZ?".
Now you have reminded me what we are realy going for.
Debbie.
(P.S Im not normally such a sad sop but it has been a realy bad week)

I know exactly what you mean. The down times are really difficult eh, but these 'golden moments' seem to make it all worth it don't they?
Hope you continue to feel better.

What we would do to be over here at the moment. :exit
It looks wonderful. The picture out of my window today is pretty bleak, the leaves are all falling off the trees in the garden and it looks a real mess, had the boys raking them up on Saturday but it's covered again, it's bouncing down with rain and grey and miserable. Not exactly the sort of weather you want for the half term holidays!!
I'd swap for your view any day!! :)

:nice1 I've spent most of the weekend thinking I want to stay in the UK. Thennnn, just had a 6 hour drive in horrendous traffic, (insert the other usual joys of life in south) etc etc, and seeing your pictures and descriptions...why can't we come sooner!!

 Just had a look at the photos, why oh why did we come back!! Renting a house back in the old town, Lesley back doing supply at the school she couldn't wait to get away from. Me waiting for interview for job I left and don't really want (need's must) and it's half term = rain = kids stuck indoors = not a happy chap!! Stick it out and return only for a holiday............D :nice1
