Had a weird week, i'm sure a lot of people will have been through the same as we have been through this week.
over the last month or so it has been a bit of a roller coaster from problems with NZQA and it looking like pr being very unlikely to this week submitting our ITA's feeling that sense of relief only to find it gets taken over very quickly by the thought of 'what if we don't get it', 'how long will it take'. That sort of thing.
Anyway decided to start the job hunt in readiness for good news and hopefully an interview. Helen has started applying for teaching jobs and has had some very positive feedback, and i have begun looking to.
We went to the expo at manchester on sunday and found it to be very useful, i spoke to one recruitment agency and found myself being dragged in,seated and videod for an impromtu interview!! how mad is that!! Still they probably did that to everyone and just don't want to shatter the illusion.
We are hoping to be in Wellington by the in the next three months if all goes well, fingers crossed.
Good luck everyone and me i be the first to say 'Merry Christmas'.

good luck guys I hope you get there in 3 months. What subject does your girlfriend/ wife teach? Just be sure to check out the decile rating of the school the lower the number the worse the school. :)

Apparently this roller coaster feeling is 'normal'. :laugh :laugh

Chin up, fingers crossed and go for it.

Hi guys, we looked into what decile mean't and found out, and i think the worse the school is the better for Helen!!
For some reason unbeknown to me she likes teaching, shall we say, in the rougher schools!! she has done early childhood for years at a school which tends to be the local dumping ground for special needs, attention deficit, excluded pupils and all the other problem kids, never a dull moment apparently!
The only problem is if she carries on with early childhood in nz it will be as an untrained support teacher, they don't recognise experience, if only they knew!
I'm a plumber so hopefully it won't be to difficult for me.
keep smiling

I'd just watch the decile ratings too - I believe they're more a guide to the amount of money in the area and therefore the amount of govt funding available (lower decile schools are in lower socio-economic areas therefore get more funding). It doesn't necessarily reflect how good/bad the school actually is! I think that's how it works anyway.
Just a thought. Anyway, good luck with the job hunting/ITA etc. Keep us posted.
