Good day mates!
My friend and I were issued ITAs last september, and we are now working on getting our credentials and all that stuff for assessment to NZQA, before submitting our application to the NZIS. we did not hire an agent to do this for us, by the way.
However, I noted in most of the messages posted in this wonderful community that the NZQA assessment can take as long as six months. Granting that our credentials go the distance when assessed, this is waaaay beyond the january 19 deadline we have for submitting our application to NZIS! Yikes!
My question is: Can we submit our NZIS application together with the PAR issued to us first when we lodged our EOI, and send the NZQA assessment after, once it's mailed to us?
another thing: is it true that we will be having our interview in bangkok? why is it that some of the members were interviewed by phone? do we still need to produce financial documents when we are interviewed?
i'd really appreaciate hearing from you guys, thanks a lot. :D

Hi purring,
we just submitted ITA on 31st Oct in person and so were able to be clear about where we stand as not all my documents were included - but hurrah - it's there and accepted !! I am still waiting for NZQA to complete my assessment and didn't even get an initial one done. Was very worried the ITa would be rejected outright as my qualifications are all in NZ and my copies weren't certified copies BUT NZIS accepted ITA, telling us that with a 2-3 month wait for a case officer to be assigned to us it gave time for NZQA stuff to get back !! Yippee - all that worrying for nothing. Don't fret over your Jan deadline - esp if you have a PAR. Submit as soon as police and med checks are done - you really will get nowhere without these. I included in ITA a letter and email from NZQA with my application number to prove assessment is in the pipeline. Don't know anyhting about Bankok interviews and don't evehn want to start thinking such a scenario could be possible or I'll be joining our friend in the thread "Stop the world I want to get off". Hope this was useful,
Tracey

Hi tracey!
thanks for the the response, i was really getting worried cuz the excruciatingly long waiting period at the nzqa really got into my nerves and i had anxiety attacks.
just to update you, i'm still requesting for certified copies of my marriage contract and college diploma. this is another problem area for me because i had my first name changed last year, and i found out that my college records used my original given names ( i was baptized with three given names; i had the dropped the third one last year). the registrar's giving me a hard time correcting my name to make it consistent with my application, id's, certifications, etc.
would this somehow affect my application, i'm wondering if the case officer won't be confused with the somewhat different names in my college transcript. that's the only one different, by the way.
good luck with your ITA and hope to hear from you soon! :nice1

Purring, I had all the anxiety attacks possible over nzqa - but now realise the immigration people are human not just robots - try your best to prove your change of name and if necessary get someone who knew you then to write a short letter saying so and confirming who you are - it's got to be better than nothing. Only an idea. I know when the ITA needs to be in the mind goes round in circles looking for solutions and if you're like me inventing probs where they don't always exist. Still waiting for a syllabus/ transcript for my degree but I'm trying to stay calm - won't be if I haven't got them by January but that's another story,

You're right, tracey, i'm getting paranoid with this NZQA and ITA stuff. i can't concentrate on my work, i keep on worrying about the gazillion things I need to gather for my application. but worrying won't do any good, just adds wrinkles and leads to many sleepless nights. hafta relax a bit. :yes
i'm gonna send a copy of the court order, my amended birth and marriage certificates to prove that i am one and the same person. my certificates will be released by next week, i'm hoping to send my docs to NZQA by then. wish me luck! :nice1
when will you be sending your NZQA and ITA? keep me posted! :clap

Purring,
I sent my docs to NZQA the last week in August - but they are not happy with just the certificates and want course transcripts for my degree and teaching cert! I have been fretting over this and trying to sort it out for 2 months now. I thought not having my assesment and definitely not having my original documents would hold me up in submitting the ITA but my OH took it into lOndon on 31st Oct - yipee !! They looked at the copies I had and said get the rest of the stuff to them when we've been assigned a case officer - which could take up to 3 months. So it buys me some time to get NZQA stuff moving. Get verification of your identity puss cat and go for it ! ONe word of advice though - in case you do submit ITA before NZQA assessment is done make sure you get certified copies of your qualifications and marriage/ birth cert. I had to send for a copy of my marriage cert at cost of £27.50 for priority posting and my qualifications had been verifed by Headteacher mate of mine not a lawyer and so I still need to show originals (which are still in Wellingotn). Let me know how you get on, ttfn, and def. relax a bit - by the way- have you asked yourself why youa re doing this to yourself and is it worth it ? I did. Then I read the positive postings and remembered all the reasons why we want to go to NZ,

thanks for the tip, tracey. i requested for certified copies of my diploma, marriage and birth certs. i'm waiting for them, and will probably submit my docs to the NZQA by tuesday next week. changing my name in the school transcript is going to delay my submission, so what i did was to attach a note clarifying that my name in the transcript is the same with the names in the other docs i submitted, plus i'm gonna be sending my marriage certificate with the correction in my name. whew! i'll have my name in the transcript officially corrected before i submit it to NZIS though, to finally set my records straight.
about your question, if i've asked myself why i'm doing this and if it is worth it, i've thought about it thoroughly, in fact i didn't need any convincing at all the first time my friend talked to me about it because i've been wanting to migrate for a long time. a lot of my friends migrated to canada and the US, but new zealand appealed to me most because:
1. it's not too crowded, with cows and sheep outnumbering humans 10 to 1 (i think)
2. it poses many many possibilities and oppoortunities for employment for me and hubby
3. it's more peaceful; it's a progressive country
4. my kids will benefit from the clean surroundings and excellent schools
and whenever i'm bushed with all the stuff i have to do to finalize my application, just thinking about the prospects of living in NZ a few months from now really perks me up.
can i ask why you're making the move? hope you don't mind my asking, i'm just curious because for me, the decision to migrate to NZ was easy, since we can have it a lot better there. what about you, what made you decide to migrate to NZ?
keep in touch!

Purring,
I agree with 1,3,and 4 on your reasons for moving to NZ. My doubts arise in the opportunities for me and my husband as we have very good (and well paid ) jobs in the U.K. We are willing to give that up for a simpler, less materialistic and better quality lifestyle for us and our children but don't want to have to worry about finance to the point that we can't enjoy a new country. It's a risk and one we're not prepared to make unless one of us secures a reasonable income - 4 children to look after means we don't want to find ourselves short of cash when now we are comfortable. I'm sure it will work out for us in the end - I just have low days when the added stress of emigrating takes over - ignore me, this forum is like group therapy for free, Tracey
