Hi Benjy, never even dreamt of getting stuff when I get there, there's got to be loads of music shops in the major cities, surely? Over to you Dave K ;)

Heres a list of music shops in Auckland, hubby bought an electric guitar from Go West, dunno what it is (apart from noisy:roll ), but he got it with an amp for around $550.

Stevie, Im bringing my guitar over but my amp is just too big :( I will be looking for a new one when i arrive.

I only got an electro acoustic so not a prob for me Benjy :) Must admit I want to get into the electric again though.

I am leaving my acoustic at home :( It would be more convenient but I need access to all 22 frets ;) I will probably buy another acoustic in NZ at some point.

Yeah lead is my thing. I do like to try and play and sing on an acoustic though when im on my own. I just cant sing :uhoh

What sort of music do you play?

Not sure about online shops..I think Rockshops have a site..but all the major cities seem well-equipped with music shops.

Gear is quite pricey though, and the range of stuff can be quite limited. I've been buying bits & pieces of audio gear from ebay in the US and getting it shipped over. You do have to pay import duty ( calculated on a sliding scale) on stuff over $100, but it still works out cheaper most of the time.

If you opt for the cheapest shipping option, yeah it takes a while. Bout 6 weeks.
