Hi all,

Net access... specifically broadband in is't various disguises (some "broader" than others) - How much does it cost, and what do you get for your money ?

Nearly everyone offer BB with a data transfer cap.. so what's on offer in NZ ?

I've read about the ISP's offer 2 caps... what's that about ?

Regards,

Doz
(Swansea on super quick NTL - I'll miss that when it's gone!)

I thought I heard a rumor that high speed prices were heading down by the end of the year. Anyone seen this information somewhere reliable? Wish I could remember.

Sorry to ask JubJub, but how much a month is it? And what are you getting for that cost?

I got the cost reduction email too.

We're on the 2Mbit plan with a data cap of 10 Gbytes per month which will now cost us $59.99 (just under 25 quid).

We are on telecom adventurer, sound the same as George has got, $59.99

Here is the full list of packages

We started with explorer, but kept running out of bandwidth, and it puts you down to dial up speed at that point.

Anyone looking at Broadband, or even landline phone connections - just be aware that if you plan to live in a rural location you may find you are actually worse off that if you lived in Rural UK.

Once you get out of the towns, Telecom (and Sky) charge you extra each month. Just because they can as there is no competition.

It wont matter a bean if you are living in a town or City - but Just in case you want to live in the middle of nowhere (ie - Not Swansea!!!) - its something to think about. You dont want to know thw arrogance we are getting from Telecom here - just to ge a 2nd Landline ( they want $50,000 to get broadband to us - I could get me own satelite for that!)

Damn..it's only the expensive packages that are going down

Guess the idea is that you spring the extra $20...

We are with telecom xtra. No idea on the band width, but we have not problems with usuage.

You have to have a land line first which is $49.99 line rental (plus calls)
The xtra is a FURTHER $49.99 a month

Alot more expensive that what I was paying in the UK for landline & broad band.

I think slingshot is cheaper, but when setting up I didn't know about slingshot so went with Telecom and are signed up for a year, come the Autumn I plan to change and have a good look around for other providers.
