We want to go away for crimbo, because we think it may be difficult here for our first one, family in, not knowing anyone in NZ, etc.

We want to go to New Plymouth and have found a place to stay 26/27 Dec that we know and love.

Any recommendations on hotels, homestays etc on the way from Welly to NP and in Taupo which is where will we go on to afterwards.

I've looked at Jasons etc but they all look a bit well 'corporate' and all our travel books are in the container.

As long as we can get fed and watered on xmas day we will be happy. :clap :clap

We came over to do 'The big NZ tour' thing before we migrated and loved Taupo, we stayed at the Top 10 park which was excellent, but you are probably looking for something a bit nicer as it's Christmas!

It's a good idea to get away at that time, it's our first Christmas here too and we are also wondering how we will feel on the day, but as Hubby is a GP and 'on-call' Boxing Day going away isn't an option for us.

I was also trying to get out of cooking on christmas day. :D Even hotels I've been checking will be closing their kitchens.

Hmmmm Plan B, I'll have to think of one.

Actually it will be beach, dispo bbq and him cooking for the rest of the week, I just haven't told him yet! Just wanted a bit of Luuurve and pampering on xmas day. :exit
