Hi folks,
We fly out Tuesday, arriving New Plymouth on 4th Nov. My phone is disconnected tomorrow lunchtime so this is my last post for a while. I just wanted to say a big thank you to all those on the forum who share their observations, views and emotions so willingly. I've already found a few people i'll be able to contact when I arrive in NP, and I am heaps more informed and enlightened than when I first visited New Zealand 2 years ago. I've been browsing this forum for a year now and have learnt so much - I hope to learn even more when I arrive and share it with you all.

We're arriving on a visitor visa, planning to apply for a work permit when we arrive and my partner meets his employer. (My stress is all yet to come!!!). I'm sure I'll have tales of bureacracy to share with you. As for PR, depends how the next six months go. I'm scared I'm going to love it so much in NZ I'll want to stay, and then I'll have to face the paperwork hurdle - I don't think i'll ever get my head round all that!!! At present, my only headache is trying to fit clothes and toys into an 80kg weight allowance (particularly as my 7 year old daughter wants to take all of her toy babies - she has 13 of them altogether). We have already sorted a furnished rental out - I'm hoping it will be as good as it looked on from the internet pictures!!!! (I've heard some corking rental horror stories from NZ!). One of our first tasks when we arrive (apart from shopping) will be to visit some primary schools for my children (10 and 7)

Again, a big thank you to you all. I feel I've not contributed much yet as my only posts seem to be questions. Maybe when I next reply I'll be answering some or at the very least offering you my view of living in NZ!!

I've installed some antivirus software on my laptop today for when I arrive, ready to hook up to the internet - so my next posting will be of the "Been here a few days/weeks and this is what it's like" variety!!!! I can't believe I'm finally writing my last UK posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!

Bye for now, Hannah

Here's wishing you a safe and relatively stressfree (!) journey. You HAVE contributed plenty to this forum! Very envious that you're now on your way - sure you'll love NP. If you end up settling there, will definately meet again. Can't wait to hear how you're getting on and how you're experiencing all. Sure your son will love the swimmingpool complex!!

Hugs

Hiya namesake Hannah, wishing you a great trip and enjoy all the new things!

I hope the dutch version (me) can follow you as soon as possible.
We have our ITA lodged now and sold the house, will be moving into a temporary place in about 2 weeks and have no idea about internet access, so I can get used to it for when we get to NZ ;)

Take care and hope to see some posts on how youre doing soon! :yes
