They are coming to us on 21st Nov to pack and store everything prior to shipping. They use NZ vanlines at the other end.
I have heard good reports on them before, but will hold judgment until they have done the job. Feel free to pm me for details on quote etc.

We used them back in April. We said that we had been recommended by my Auntie and Uncle and that seemed to get the best out of them.

They were really efficient, very helpful and packed everything really, really well. When the packers this end came to pick the boxes and packing up afterwards they thought we'd had a 40ft container not 20ft as there was so much of it :nice1

NZ Van Lines have had lots of good and bad press. I have to say having experienced them and another removal company the kiwis aren't so careful moving stuff around. Off loading the container they hadn't anticipated our furniture being solid and so a couple of pieces nearly fell. With the other removal company we found they would handle fragile boxes like they just had cotton wool in them :uhoh Althought saying that everything came right in the end and nothing got broken or damaged.

Thumbs up to PSS and NZ Van Lines they did a great job :nice1

Had the PSS estimator round on Tuesday and was totally unimpressed by him. It's put me off the company completely. They looked good on paper and I'd read good reviews on the forums but if he was an example of service they provide it wasn't a good start.

I had agents from Crown and Britannia round first and both of them took a good hour to explain the whole process and inventory the house. Both agreed we'd need sole use of a 20' container. The guy from PSS arrived late, gave me a leaflet and DVD (funnily enough titled Removals from Hell), quickly looked round the house, worked out the figures on a scrap bit of paper then told me a rough price. It was quite low so I asked if that was for sole use of a container, he just laughed and said we didn't have enough stuff and it would be for a shared contained. Mind you he insisted that as our nice Ikea wardrobes were only 'chipboard' they'd have to be dismantled, he took my word on what was up the loft, in the shed and cupboards. The whole thing took 15minutes.

It's a bit of a difference in professionalism and I've since read about someone who used PSS and ended up paying extra because their stuff wouldn't fit into the container they'd been quoted for.

That guy was obviously just for our area and I'm sure they employ much better estimators in other parts of the country but first impressions and all that. They're not getting my business. Get a few quotes and see the differences between the companies.

Good luck
Karen

Thanks Karen - the guy at the EXPO was a bit of a "wideboy", bit overfamiliar in my book, considering he was looking for business. I don't think I'll just take the first removal company, obviously going to shop around, but just wanted a few opinions of people's experience with them.

Many thanks

Had Quote from PSS and all was well till I needed to ask a few questions things on quote not going ect ect, And they were really so unhelpful that I have decided no chance with my worldly goods.

What is Maff Charges I am confused???????? do companys now include this in quotes.

Diny what was your quote form Brittania?

please can you forum buddies please list your quotes so I have a clue as to how much,

Have done searches but not much coming up. Prices and Phone numbers would really help.

Many Thanks
Pamela

Pamela

Apart from the dreadful PSS we've had quotes from Britannia (0845 6006661) and Crown (0208 839 8000).

Britannia quoted £3900 for a sole use 20' reefer container (we've a 2 bed house). Crown quoted £3865 for the same. Insurance with both was 3%. (Prices really seemed to have gone up since I did some searches on the forum in July).

We were surprised with the Crown quote as we'd heard they were one of the more expensive companies and were expecting it to be alot more. Their quote also included MAF charges which were extra with Britannia. Crown also use their own agents in NZ whereas Britannia use NZ Van Lines.

We're going with Crown firstly because they are the cheapest quote we had and also because I was quite impressed with the service they said they would provide. Also it turned out the estimator was one of our neighbours, he was a nice guy (hasn't stopped us trying to knock his price down further though).

Hope this helps
Karen

Wow, haven't prices shot up! And what the hell are the MAFF charges for? Would have to question what the hell they are on about, seems a bit of a nonsense to me that one, unless somebody on the forum can enlighten us?

I wasn't too impressed with the PSS guy at the Manchester forum and won't be bothering with them. I have Britannia coming round tomorrow night - they were recommended to me by a client who has used them and he was impressed. Will also be talking to Crown.

Anyone used Anglo Pacific?

Yes I getting the impression that this moving biz will be handled by others than PSS, although will give them a chance to talk me into it.
