Well it looks like I will be submitting my EOI from NZ, not from here like I wanted, no job offers yet, and I am getting the feeling there won't be any, (95 points) :(. I will go on a working holiday visa in April, and apply after I get more points racked up with a job offer and NZ work experience. Has anyone else on this forum done it this way, and if you have am I headed for a paperwork nightmare?
- Going on 2 months now waiting on hearing from NZQA...

I can't answer for people on the forum taking that route but we know of several people through the backpackers we run that have successfully followed that plan and seemingly with very little hassle. go for it.

Its probably the way we are going to do it, what is your occupation mate?

Hi, we're sort of doing the same. Came in on holiday visa and looking for work - with 2 children in tow and associated initial schooling costs as they will be 'international students' !!!. I think it's fairly common as it's hard to get job offers from out of NZ unless in very highly skilled or specialised occupation. I think some very shortage areas (e.g. nursing) get job offers easier, but i may be wrong. Some people leave family behind and go alone on work search holiday. I can't say if it's paperwork nightmare - just take as much as you can and have other info easily accessible so someone can send other stuff. You can always contact past employers etc. by phone email etc.
good luck

Jewels-
I am a hairdresser, and small business owner with no college degree. I have searched and searched for the last several months for a job offer, and everyone says the same thing, you sound great, pop in when you get here. When are you going, Jewels?

Hannah- That is interesting, bringing your kids... I thought I had read no kids, (at least on my visa), so it got me scared because I am bringing my 3 pets, and a container full of my life. These things are not easily removed, and tend to indicate a more permanent stay, I am very hesitant to tell immigration about this stuff when I pass through with my visa.

Hi Leosus

We do not intend to go until August 1st next year :( just starting the process for immigration over here). Trying to get a job from the UK as I am a secondary school teacher hopefully this will be possible. If I can find a position then I will try for PR at this end if not and more than likely I will do what you are doing and get PR from your end. :)

Wish I could leave sooner but I am in the middle of the first school term and have to wait until this academic year finishes. I hope you get what you want and have a great time fella. :)

If you're bringing a container load of stuff out on a holiday visa of any kind you may find you have to pay a bond on the stuff in place of duty that is refundable on PR. something else to think about. But check it out as this is not confirmed information.
