Well, we finally made it and have been given PR for New Zealand!

I’m not much of a poster, but the site has proved very useful over the last few months. There is so much information that is not available elsewhere, so many thanks to all you experts!

Our application was originally submitted in January though has just recently been finalised. We had a slight wobble in September when our case officer requested further information regarding our de-facto relationship and my work history, however, we managed to convince them that everything was above board.

As we used an agent the whole process was slightly slower as the NZIS deal with them and the agent then deals with you. However, they were reassuring when things didn’t go quite so smoothly so I guess for us personally it was worth dealing with a consultant.

We should be arriving in NZ in January after a break in Hong Kong, and then the real work will begin!

So, many thanks to all of you that submit such useful information, it really does help. And to those still going through the process, good luck and don’t give up!

Regards,

Ebeee.

Hi Steve,

Many thanks for that. Yor not wrong about the feeling relief. I've never known a wait like that when everything is out of your hands. Quite scarry not having control over your life!

Good luck with the application, from what I understand you should have a pretty easy time converting to PR after 3 months in the job.

Regards,

Ian.

Hi Ian,

but just remember, you are now in control, you have done all the hard work, so its now time to relax. How long before you come over ? The weather is really good at the moment, and set to get better. Although our first xmas in the sun is going to be completely weird. But i guess its better than freezing !!
Sorry for that one.

Hi Smiler,

Thanks for the message.

We are looking to settle in Wellington, but it really depends on how easily we find work. I currently work for a Housing Association and my partner works for a mobile phone company as an account manager. I've registered with the NZ Housing Corporation who advertise quite a few jobs in this area so we are fairy confident of finding something in the wellington area. However, we are happy to change careers so I think with a flexible approach we can make the best of whatever situation we find ourselves in.

Cheers,

Ian.

Hi Steve,

We should be arriving in January or early february. Just before it gets really cold here!

Have a great Christmas in the sun! I'm looking forward to my first winter in the sun!

Cheers,

Ian.
