Just bought a pack of luxury lattice topped (fruit) mince pies from Pak n Save, and they are bloomin lovely, specially with a dollop of thickened cream on top :p :o

Mince pies and xmas pud are the only xmas foods I really enjoy! did see some xmas puds as well, but did not get one (yet).

No doubt you can get UK-style Christmas Puds somewhere, but the standard ones you see in NZ supermarkets are more like sponge puddings, so beware. After a lot of anticipating we were very disappointed when we opened one of these!

Also note that most NZers call mince pies 'mince tarts'. If you ask someone to get you a mince pie from the bakery they'll likely as not come back with something savory (and possibly of dubious provenence...)

Don't forget someone's excellent suggestion (sorry, but I can't remember who :o ) of a nice vanilla ice cream with some festive fruits stirred in.

I fully intend to make some this year, just to get into the swing of all things New Zealand :laugh :laugh :laugh
