Well we are coming up to one week of our new life in NZ and boy are we loving it. Been staying with friends since last friday when we landed. We move on down to PN next week to stay with Diny and Mark for a while.

Since last week we have been across to Raglan for a visit, yesterday we went up to the BOP and wow what a view (right across the waikato) you get from the ranges on the journey to Tauranga. Been in and around the locality of where our friends stay in Cambridge. Quite a lovely little place with alot of honesty thrown in. Having been out for breakfast on Sunday we realised, 12 hrs later that i had seemed to have lost 3 credit cards, it then turns out that Elaine had misplaced her jacket (the cards were in this jacket). After frantically thinking where we had been, we decided to phone the place where we ate early. Bingo.....one jacket with 3 credit cards still in place:nice1 Not saying the honesty isn't in the UK, but the chances are a little higher of not getting them back:no

On Monday went into Cambridge and opened an account and hired a car for a week, been sniffing around a car or two to buy, but nothing definate just yet. Cars seem to be quite cheap, but unsure on the Km's(are they certified?) Anyway that will come over the next few weeks.

Tuesday, went to see the company i am suppose to be working for, lovely people, very understanding regarding our situation and are quite happy for me to start when i am good and ready, but sooner would be more acceptable to them as they are coming into there busier time of year. Having been given an option of Auckland,Palmy, or Havelock North, its now been left to me to make that decision. Spent 1.5hrs with the HR manager, and the man i have been corresponding with for the last 15 months, did they talk about the job.....NO all they seemed interested in was Football,Rugby,England and anything else bar the job! They did ask one or two questions about my experience, but on the whole it was very informal, to the point that my two girls were invited in on the meeting also. During our chat, the employers got chatting to Elaine about work, and would you believe it......chance is they are about to offer her a position also within the company on the admin side.

Anyway, i would love to have been able to upload some pic's, but as i am using my friends laptop they will have to wait for another day, but got some crackers, so hang in there and they will be with you shortly, especially since you guys love pictures of everyone's travels. Going for a beer and a BBQ, will give the next update from down in the Manawatu.

Kim and gang, good to see you are chilling out a little now and not so tense. Enjoy the experience. If you woke up with burning ears it is because I have just been talking about you to a friend in her shop (kept me prisoner talking about NZ for 45 minutes!!!). She is a tad envious of our situations and thinks we are very brave! :)
P.S. Don't give up the day job of window cleaning mate, know what I mean? ;)

Great to hear things are going so well for you all.

Fancy both ending up working for the same employer. The informal approach is something we really liked when we were over there. They seem to much prefer the human approach and aren't so bothered with red tape and the like.

Can't wait to see those photos.

Thanks for the replies folks. I just thought i would mention that this place is the most natural and scenic place that i have ever had the pleasure to encounter:nice1

Today we went on a pony trekking adventure up around the hills of Raglan, it was a wonderful experience for 3 of us. It started as the Magnificent Seven and ended up as the 3 Stooges. Myself, Neil, and my youngest Hayley enjoyed some breathtaking scenery on our epic journey across the prarie (it only lasted 1 hour) but for a moment we could have been anywhere we wanted to be,it was just so relaxing. The other 4 just didn't make it out of the yard, it was so funny to watch them totally lose the plot. The guy who ran the show said we were the worst group he had ever come across:clap

Tomorrow we are heading into Cambridge for armistice celebrations so the camera will be clicking away.

Hannah, it is a wonderful place, John, the wait was worth every bit of stress we had encountered, and Timbo i wish you had told me that all the hassle was going to lead us to this:raebanana

Catch you later

The 3 amigos, that I would have liked to have seen. Keep the piccies going Kim, coz David Bailey here can't wait to see them once you got your bandwidth sorted. Get some armistice pics, it would be nice to compare the way things are done in NZ.

We look forward to doing a bit of horse trekking, but will probably do it down on the east cape as we have an invite to do a tiki tour.
Your trip sounds like great fun Kim, was Raglan the surfies paradise we are told it is?
Sorry for not warning you matey, but I didnt want to put you off going :laugh ;)

Kim you made us laugh there with your pony trecking!! Look forward to doing similar when we get out there - I actually learned to ride in New Plymouth when I lived there as a child - very fond memories.
