My parents-in-law in their 70s, will be here next month and we will be going to Queenstown for a week. This will be our first time to Queenstown. We will be picking up a rented car from the airport and drive around.

Appreciate your tips and suggestions on places or activities in Queenstown :)
:cheers

There is so much to do. You spend a couple of days looking at the scenary saying "wow"

The paddle steamer that goes across the lake is well worth it, it is still powered by coal so is fasnatings (for some proly your dad in law ;) ) byt the actual trip is good.

The wine tours are good, you are taken to the vinyards in the area by bus so you can drink and not have to spit.

There is a very good tourist information in the top end of Queenstown, just as you enter the main area) where you can book up and find out about trips.
My mother in laws friends visisted NZ a few weeks ago and went jet boating in Q'town (they are both in their 60's) and LOVED it. said it was one of the best days of the whole trip.

I would recommend to drive over to Wanaka for atleast a day. It is calmer than Q'town and IMO so much more beautiful. The road between the two is spectaular!
Stop off at the Cardronna Inn ( areal old world rustric pub) for refreshments! Wanaka has some lovely cafes where you can stop watch the wrold go by and loose yourself staring at the lake & mountains.

Probably no bungee jumping hmm? Seriously, perhaps a visit to Miford Sound, there are cruises there and a little hotel with a great view of Mitre Peak. Any drives around Mt. Aspiring National Park are beautiful. But watch out for the Kea (they will tear your car apart!).
Have a wonderful visit.

She recommended the gondola trip and boat trip on the lake. Alos the trip to Milford Sound is well worth it as well.
