We currently have our savings in ING, but have just found out that the account can not be held by non UK residents.

What has everyone else done with their savings? We are particularly thinking of the money from the house sale, which we wanted to keep in £s until the exchange rate was better.

Any suggestions for UK high interest accounts, which you can hold as non UK residents? Or do such things not exist?

Cheers

http://www.bnz.co.nz/Personal_Solutions/1,1184,1-8-700,00.html
said they have an account that you can transfer your money into and leave it in £'s until you are ready to convert it to NZ$. you can even set it up before you leave the UK.

The 'accounts for Uk residents only' attitude seems to be a bit idiosyncratic TBH. We opened a high interest internet account with Northern Rock before we left, and we did tell them what our plans were, to come to NZ. They said that was no problem as long as we were UK residents when we opened the account. Then several months later when we asked them to change our address details to NZ, we got an email saynig that the account was for UK residents only! We wrote back telling them what our original advice had been, and haven't heard anything since, so have just not brought it up again.

I'm with the Nationwide and there's no problem with living abroad. Still get the 4.75% on sterling savings.

Got a internet account with Natwest, told them why I wanted it initially and my plans, have not been told I can't have it yet, might not let them know yet, still have property here.
