Just when things start to look up, we get another knock back down, why does this process push us to the limits?? We have our ITA, medicals done, police reports sent off for, everything looking ok, job offer etc, then i got a phone call this morning to say the house sale has fallen through, guy can't get his mortgage :( We were hoping to be in Palmerston for end of January begining of February, as John is to start his job in mid February, but not sure we will make it now, unless we get another buyer and quick. Estate agents have said they will do all they can, but it is 5 weeks off christmas.

Oh well back to the drawing board and endless amounts of cleaning to keep the house tidy for prospective viewers, and with 3 kids, and a dog thats not the easiest thing in the world!

Another day in the life of John and Helen :roll

Sorry to hear about the trouble with your buyer. All I can say is that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. We thought that our house would never sell, and had to drop a load off the asking price even to get an offer, things didn't go smoothly after that either. In the end it worked out well for us and I hope it does for you too.

I haven't been on the forum for a while as we are still waiting for our stuff to arrive (PC etc) from the UK, do you require the points from the job offer, did it take you long to get your buyer?

Either way I'll send a few well wishings over the ether tonight and hope another buyer turns up soon.

Best of luck

Paul

Hang on in there, it will come right in the end. We were already to sell back in June with a completion date set for the beginning of August. After booking the shipping and dog, as well as sorting the dog out for B&B at the vets and handing in my notice at work, BANG.......he dropped out. Ok it wasn't to long before we had another buyer on board, but we had to take a big drop in asking price to complete. All i can say is if you want out, be prepared to drop in price and a realistic drop at that. Ok, it would be nice to come across with lots of cash, but be realistic and not optimistic. In the end we dropped, have arrived, and couldn't be happier.

Just go for it and hang in there, NZ will still be here for a long time yet. And good luck.

True words Kim, NZ will still be here H&J, when ever you get here. I do feel for you though, it must be near on impossible to keep tidying up after 3 and a dog. :(

Have you tried other avenues like the internet, local paper etc, rather than relying on the estate agents at this time of year?

You will get here in the end. Chin up

So sorry to hear this. We're really frustrated at not getting a buyer, but it must be so much worse to have a buyer who then pulls out for whatever reason. Take comfort from what the others say - a lot of people on this forum were in this situation, but it has all come good for them now. We've just reduced our asking price by £40k (gulp!), but it'll be worth it if it sells. By the way, totally with you on having to keep the place tidy!! We've got 3 kids and a stinky hamster who likes to throw his poos out of the cage!

My heart felt sympathy to you. It's soul distroying this house selling lark but as others have said NZ isn't going anywhere.
Here's wishing you all the best.

I can emphasize very much with the house selling issue as we also need to sell our house first. And we are talking about a big farm property in Westfalia/Germany, where the real estate market practically seized to exist.

I wish you good luck! It really can be quite demanding - if not depressing...

So sorry to hear about your bad luck, god do I know what you are going through, Our House has been on the market wait for it 1 year, 2 offers who then pulled out 2 on the table but they could not sell, Then Bang 1 year on a offer that is sold subject to contract , So everything is at last in the hands of the solicitors, I have everything crossed I have not posted for ages because everything just got so on top of me and hubby that I could see the dream going,

But I read your post and beg you please hang in it will happen when you least expect it, And you will be on your way before you know it good luck and be positive.

thanks guys for your good wishes. Yes the job offer gave us the points for PR, so as yet have not said anything to employer as we want to get the PR before we say anything and it is still possible to get over by February if we get a buyer SOON.

Does anybody know if we get our PR, and then we loose that job offer, do we loose our PR? or once you have it, its yours for keeps as they say. We are hoping they will extend the offer if we are still not sold, but if they dont, we dont want to loose everything if we then loose PR as well. Sorry that sounds garble, but i am getting really tired now and it all seems to be one thing after another. We have sold car though and got a banger to run around in till we go, think we have a home for dog, decided not to take her as she is only a pup and it will be hard for her, and we will have so much on when we get there it would not be fair if we dont have time for her as well.

Thanks again guys, im keeping everything crossed xxxxxxxxx :uhoh

Hello again, I think (as far as I can remember) that if you get conditional PR, based on a job offer you have to be in that job for 3 months before you get full PR, something to do with conditions or clauses put in your PR). If you don't have the clauses I suppose thay could always do a spot check and phone up your employer to see if you are actually still going to start or have started.

Don't know what your score is.

Bets of luck with a new buyer, you may wish to think about a price drop to entice them in with a little speed.
