Hi there,

Does anyone have any experience, good or bad, of shipping part loads to NZ?

We are not taking that much over, perhaps 200cu ft max (I think this works out at around a quater of a 20ft container. So far, Excess Baggage have suggested a figure of around £1100 for delivery to Wellington.

If anyone has any ideas or experiences they would be very much appreciated.

Regards,

Ian.

Yes, we only bought over a part load - we sold nearly everything except personal possessions.

Our total was just short of 300 cubic feet. The cost (with GB Liners) ws £1,251 (all items were already in storage and packed in boxes) and insurance was an additional £400.

No probs! GB Liners have offices across the UK (we used the Brighton office) and I found them very efficient, organised and everything arrived in perfect condition with the exception of 2 photo frames where the glass had broken.

GB Liners use NZ Vanlines at the NZ end - not everyone has had good experiences with them, but we did. So much so that I'm using them for our upcoming domestic move.

Lots of Freight companies will ship 'groupage' for you. might be worth phoning a few. the going rate a year ago was I think about 50 pounds a cubic metre.

Hi guys!

just about to post something similar & yet again the forum is here to help us!

we just about sold everything with our house so don't have alot of furniture to ship but we do have a few bits & pieces, no where near enough to fill a 20ft container probably only take up less than a qurarter ourselves.

we are just ringing around trying to find the best deal so we will defo try GB Liners for a quote.

many thanks for the info :)

A friend who recently moved to Oz used this firm
http://www.sevenseasworldwide.com/uk/
but he had very little to take. They deliver the packaging to your door, along with tape etc, and colect the packed boxes when you are ready. Quite reasonable too I believe.

Hi Guys,

Many thanks for the hints, they should prove useful.

Hi Clarkydicko: We have just had a quote from Britania in Hull for part pack & delivery to door in Wellington. For 200 cu ft this works out at £1300. We were advised that groupage deliveries could take anywhere between 10 and 16 weeks, unless you are really lucky and the container is ready to leave when youir goods arrive. They do provide all the packing boxes! If you need any further info please get in touch.

Cheers,

Ian.
