Hi, I am thinking of making the move to NZ in the next 2 0r 3 years, my girlfriend and I score 105 points on the indicator, is it likelt that we would get an ITA with this score or should we try and get job offers? also if you apply for a job do the employers wait for you and keep the job open while you go through the process?

I would have thought any employer worth their salt would hold a job offer open for you, as long as you were honest with them about where you are in the process.

Also, having a job offer tends to speed up the whole process, although like anything, it can take longer as well!! :D

I lodged an expression of interest with only 105 points and no job offer. I thought this might affect my chances of getting an invitation to apply, but apparently as long as you're over 100 it doesn't matter by how much. As to how your score affects processing time, that might be a different story...

You submit your EOI and ever 14 days or so NZIS hold a pool draw. If your EOI has been submitted and accepted before the draw date it will be entered and if you have enough points to get you over the pass mark you will get an ITA. It should make no difference if you have 105 or 150 points. The only variable is having a job, which fast tracks your application.
JJFM2 If I was you I would be considering how much longer NZIS will keep the pass mark at 100, they can put it up and rumours always abound that it will be sooner rather than later. Once you are selected your right to ITA is preserved for as long as the variouse time limits on each stage so you can drag the process out. I can't recall all the timings but someone will know. To give you an idea, look at my time line below and we are in a rush!. We now have 18mths to get into NZ.
Hope this helps Debbie
