No I'm not refering the the good looking chap on the adverts!

I'm feeling left out here....anyone fancy meeting up for a wee jolly in Scotland...Edinburgh / Glasgow ??? I know there's a few of us lurking on this forum :P

I'll even let Frodo out from his wee cage (Hobbits are an endangered species don't you know!) for the afternoon! :laugh

Edinburgh would suit me OK as well. If you will allow people to attend from just over the Border.

Cool .... Edinburgh's looking good! :P

I guess a weekend is best for most people ....Saturday afternoons ???

Anderson Clan .....where are you based ?

Nicola, as you work in Edinburgh you must be accustomed to the ways of the city, so on this occassion I shall allow you to join in ....hohoho  :P

Any suggestions of where to meet ? I would love to have you all round to my humble abode, but unfortunately our mentally challenged cat has psychotic episodes, and has been known to mistake my friend's 2 yr old as a 'tasty snack'. :eek

Just thought i would reply to this even though i am across the border. I would like to say this is a good idea. :nice1 We are doing a meet tomorrow in the North West, it helps people share there dreams, aspirations, challenges, positive and negative thoughts but most importantly it creates a network for everyone when everybody makes that all important step. :clap You can then feed off each other when you are in that strange land. :hopeso

Good luck with the meet. :nice1

Great :P

Does anyone who's coming have kids? We don't (the cat would eat them) but just trying to decide on a venue....any ideas?

Sorry I haven't replied soon - we had a slight crisis with a sick child!

Yes we'd be interested and would bring kids - we live in the Ayrshire. However, as hubby still plays rugby (at his age!) on a Saturday and I coach mini rugby on a Sunday we might find it hard to make - but will try our best.

No ideas on venues - don't know Edinburgh (apart from Murrayfield and the Zoo!)

We could organise a room at our rugby club - but I don't suppose many people would want to come to Ardrossan! (although train links are pretty good and beer is relatively cheap!)

We would be quite keen to meet up, although we are near Inverness. Edinburgh would suit us as we know it a little better than Glasgow.

:cheers :nice1

That's great, the more the merrier! :P

Not having kids I have no idea where is 'kid friendly' on a Saturday afternoon. Is Sat afternoon OK with everyone or is Sunday better. I was thinking about 1pm and we could have lunch????

Anderson Clan, can you make anytime at the weekend? I can do Fridays, what about everyone else?

Awww its not that costly!

And you could do an Underground Tour first :nice1

Or how about Browns on George Street? Easy to get bigger groups in there... or All Bar One further up.....?

Milliemoo
17th October 2004, 12:05 AM
Hi,

All Bar One is over 21's but I think Brown's is reasonably child friendly....hummmmmmmmm still a bit over priced though.

Oooooohhhh here's a thought..... La Tasca ..... nice vino, plus a good choice of nibbles, or lunch for those who prefer it. Defo child friendly, with the bonus of good looking waiters!

Any objections? Any better ideas?

How about we say Sat Nov 20th 13.00 @ La Tasca, South Charlotte St :P

17th October 2004, 12:10 AM
Great .. but we have no idea where La Tasca is!

We will make our best effort to be there on time though.

Any simple directions would be appreciated.

See you there. PS anyone know a good B&B nearby?

Great! :P

Here's some links. The restaurant is very central and easy to find:

http://www.latasca.co.uk/index.cfm/fuseaction/storedetails/rest_id/18/cat/locr/areg/1/1.cfm

http://www.edinburgh.uk.net/

You should be able to get a family room for approx £55. Let me know if your struggling, and I can find you some deals.

I've booked a table for 12 people, but can always increase the numbers.

La Tasca, brilliant idea. :cheers

November 20th is fine with us, I have a lecture that morning at QMUC in Leith which should finish at 12:30, so 1pm is a good time.

It should just be me and Peter, not sure if kids will come, we will probably get a babysitter for the 4yr old who is a highly skilled escapologist. :? Not sure about the elder two, the only answers I have got so far are grunts. I will let you know sooner to the time.

Maybe, maybe, maybe.

As well as me and Mrs Creelara, we have two girls 13 and 7. I don't know if the wee one will sit still anywhere nice and my wife will quickly realise she is in Edinburgh and dissapear to the shops anyway.

Can I get back to you with definite numbers.

Thanks.

Hi,

No probs :P

I won't be confirming numbers till a few days before. There will be a few kids coming and La Tasca is a very relaxed place so I wouldn't worry too much.

Hope you can make it

I'm still trying to think of something 'noticable' to wear so that everyone will recognise me :P :? :P

I think I'll wear my pussy cat t-shirt which looks a lot like Milliemoo. :nice1

Thanks Cath for organising the first scottish meet.

Although it was a small turn out it was good to get to talk about NZ to fellow emigrees face to face.

I am looking forward to the next meeting whether it is in NZ or in Edinburgh again. Next time we will leave the youngest one behind, he is such a pain.

See you all soon

He was not a pain - unless something happened after we left!

Nicola, I thought your children were a delight. It was a pleasure meeting you all.

Cath, thanks for organising, excellent venue, terrific food. (Hope I left enough cash to cover our end before we had to slip off all too soon).

We must do it again before we go.

Thanks,

John.

Thanks Cath, as Paw Broon would say "the very dab". (Ask Scottish husband).

Hard lines on that status change BTW. I wouldn't worry about it, probably just a glich.

Wait and I'll try this thing....
