I have been offred a job with NZ Government and I am trying to co-ordinate a Large Operation to move across myself, my husband and 5 children ranging between 2 months and 11 years of age.
It seems that my Working Visa will probably take sometimes, so I am considering to send my husband and 3 school-aged kids ahead. They are British citizens (I am Italian), so I understand they should be able to enter without VISA. I am under the impression that in that scenario they will need to show a return ticket. Is that the case?

needn't be a return ticket, could be a cheaper ongoing ticket to Australia or something. good luck

You can enter NZ withoout visa (all EU citizens can visit NZ for up to 3 months - no permit to work). But one requires a return ticket or an onward as mentioned by veronica?

Yes you just have to show you have the means to get out of the country IF the time came.

Fares to Oz can be cheap too.

When we searched for air fares we found one way tickets were almost as expensive as return (to UK) tickets. Not sure if others have found that???
Maybe tickets to Oz are a good idea anyway - if you end up not staying in NZ you could take a trip to Oz on your way back (that's what we plan to do). Well, seeing as you've come all this way......
