Hi,

I'm new to the forums, and am a soon to be New Zealander (yay!)

I have a question regarding mixing of a skilled migrant permanent visa with a normal 6 month work permit.

Currently I have a job offer starting Jan 16th 2006 and a selected EOI. I had started the visa process before getting the job. I suspect the visa will have no chance of arriving before I leave the country in January, giving how the immigration is happening over christmas etc.

Is it ok for me to apply for a 6-12 month work permit (the one without x-rays etc) in the mean time? As it keeps mentioning 'Intend to stay for no longer than x months) in the permit documentation. You see I have a permanent job and need the temporary visa to tide myself over until I get the full visa. So theoretically I do intend to stay forever.

Hope someone can help, I'm getting confused! (all part of the fun I guess)

Mike

I would call your case officer and expalin the situation to them. They can appropve a visa very quickly for people with job offers. Can't say as to the rest of your question.

Hi Mike Welcome to the forum.:clap

Yes call NZIS and explain. I believe your ITA can be brought forward if you explain the job offer, we had our ITA in for 10 weeks and then everything happened in 4 days once the job offer was in. They will also advise you of the best route to take if that cannot be the case.

Good luck and let us know how you get on. Where are you heading to?
