Apologies, we haven't been on the forum site for so long. The buyers pulled out of our house in August, and having already handed in my notice, things became rather stressful. I have to admit that it was a really low time having to do agency work and not having any firm offers on the house. Rich and I came to the conclusion that we should put NZ on the backburner for a while. It was pointless reseaching etc while we weren't going anywhere (hope someone can relate to this)

Anyway, we have had another offer on the house and the survey is with the buyers at the moment, so we are at that tense time again. I have started to look for jobs and have applied for one in Lower Hutt. We are really so nervous, but secretly so excited that this might actually be it.

Would REALLY love to hear from those South Easties to see how you are all getting on....are you all out there?

Welcome back, hope the house sale works out this time.
I'm hoping there will be a SE meet in the New Yr, unfortunatly we had to miss the last one, which would have been the first one since we joined the forum. I hope to meet up with you there. Where in Kent are you from? We are just outside Tonbridge.

Hi Karen and Rich

I wondered where you'd disappeared to. Well, we're still here in the UK. We sold our house at the end of July, by the middle of November it was obviously not going to happen quick enough to avoid high season airfares so we've told them we not interested in completing till Feb, so things seem to have stopped. As far as we are aware we're still on for the sale, but if not then we'll be putting our house back on the market early in the New Year. So I fully understand the stress of house sales holding everything up. We wanted to be in NZ for Gem's 4th birthday but that came and went in November and here we still are.
Almost everyone from the previous SE meets is in NZ or on their way. I think we should try and organise another early in the New Year - anyone interested (apart from Debbie and myself)? Will try and drum up interest after we get Xmas out of the way.
Good to hear from you guys again, and good to see things are back on track. Lots of positive house sales vibes coming your way.

Thanxs for all the positive vibes. We were hoping to be out of Faversham mid January, so a SE meet up sounds great, count us in. It's good to be back and chatting to people going through the same headache!!!!!!!

Wishing you guys all the best with your house sale. How awful to have to step back just as things start happening, but hopefully it will work out this time. Your experience sounds like many others on this forum - i dread ever putting my house up for sale!!! (and with a big housing development taking place right next door at the moment its not like it would sell anyway - heard from UK the big factory next to our house is being demolished this week to make way for 171 new rabbit hutches, er i mean new 2-3 bed homes. Not a great sales point is it!!!!
Good luck over the next few weeks!

Unfortunately not all the South Easties are in NZ! We are in limbo land at the moment. Hubbie has an MRI Scan next week to see if he has any longterm damage after suffering an electric shock at work back in the summer. Fingers crossed he'll get the all clear.

As I pm'd to Diny recently I haven't been on the forum lately as I've felt quite dispondent. No one has really mentioned NZ at home so I felt I was the only one who wanted to go. Well we had a crisis meeting Sunday morning and everyone unaminously (sp?) agreed that they DID want to emigrate. I just feel under so much pressure as we are 5 points short so need a job offer before completing our EOI. It would be so much easier if we had PR first as we don't know what they will say at the medical about my husband's injury. Could be we put the house on the market and look for a job in NZ without any guarantees of even passing the medical. If we had a conventional property we could have rented it out but it takes a whole day just to cut the grass - I don't think this is what people want when they rent a property???

Anyway, anyone out in NZ prepared to offer my hubbie a job and then wait for the house to sell???????????????????
