Sorry, I'm a newbie to the site and haven't had time to explore all the threads to see if these questions have been answered, but it seems that my case, while not unique, is certainly unusual for this forum.

I am already living in NZ, married a Kiwi Feb 05, and operating on a Family Stream Work Permit & Visa (exp end Dec 06). I am able to apply for Residency in Jan 06. I'm Scottish-born, with dual UK/Canadian citizenship, and have lived in both countries off-and-on for the last 40+ years. I was wondering, can anyone here give me any info (price, waiting times, etc) on obtaining the NZIS Residency-required Police/Security checks from the UK? Canada?

The application form says I might need checks from Scotland & England. Does anyone here have any experience or knowledge about this aspect of them?

Does anyone here have any info on this type of immigration itself?

Welcome to the forum. Can't help you regarding the Canada police check but the UK one takes about 3 weeks to come through (well that's how long mine took). Obvioulsy you may need to allow a little longer because you're requesting it from over here.

Welcome to ENZ forums. Hubby's UK police checks took almost the full 6 weeks they quote. I think the thing with police checks is you need to get them from any country you have lived in for the past 10 years. If you're already in NZ then the medical is easy, you can go to any GP (I believe) and get them to fill in the form for you. And both the medical and police checks have limited life spans but I can't for the life of me remember what they were (somewhere in the 3-6 month margin I think).
I'm sure someone will correct me if any of the above is incorrect.

Hello and welcome!

My police check took nearly 5 weeks to come. This was in the UK of course and I have no idea about Canada! Couldn't be as long as here though surely! ;)
